Some documentation from my collaboration with Selena Kearney, an essay performed for a live audience that weaves together our individual photographic works, capturing opposing perspectives within the evolving situation at the Field Museum following the NAGPRA update of January 2023. Through spoken texts, we articulate our distinct positions within the research, exploring how our respective heritages shaped and mediated our access to the museum's spaces and collections. Central to the performance is a transmission—a gesture of connection and reverence—to sacred Coast Salish objects held within the museum.
This work was shared three times this fall in small settings in Chicago and Kansas City. The project is now returning to a research focused phase.
