When Chris asked me to perform Remy Charlip’s Dance in a Wing Chair, I began rehearsing at work, testing chairs while reading donated paperbacks. Charlip wanted dancing to be effortless, woven into your day, which is why he created scores like this—suggesting you could dance while sitting in an armchair reading a book. In that spirit, rehearsing on the clock at my day job felt perfect.
